IRONMAN FOOTBALL RETURNS TO THE NAL
Albany, NY - The National Arena League announced today that the Ironman style of play is returning for the 2022 season. Ironman football is unique to Arena football, where players are required to play on both offense and defense, with the exception of four specialists.
Coach Tom Menas is the only coach in the NAL to have coached this style of play. Menas is looking forward to returning to the true roots of arena football, saying “Ironman football is the way that the arena football concept was created. It was made to separate our way of playing football from every other team in any other league throughout the United States. It's an opportunity for the real lunchbox, hard nosed, gritty football player to have an opportunity to become a superstar”.
The league as a whole is excited to bring this back, Commissioner Chris Siegfried commented on the announcement, “Ironman football is one of the concepts that made arena football unique. It’s one of the things that attracted me to the sport back in 1992. The legendary players and coaches of the game were associated with ironman football. Now the NAL is taking one giant step to return indoor football to the way it was meant to be played, and I couldn’t be happier. For those unfamiliar with ironman, get ready because this will be the most exciting style of football that you will ever experience”.
